A scholar in Vatican City decided to write a book about churches around the world. He first flew to Switzerland, and started working west from there. Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued by the sign which read "$10,000 a minute."

Here's the situation: I have my own domain for Madalyn's website. It is through Yahoo so I have only ever used their page-building program to make the pages.

I HAAAAAAATE, loathe and despise Yahoo and I now want to transfer her domain to another server where I will pay half as much and actually get this thing called "customer service" and this other thing called "technical support," both of which are but mythical creatures over at Yahoo (HAAAAAAAAATE).

Anyway, this place I want to transfer to is hosting only -- meaning I have to find my own way to build the pages for the website. So, um....help?

Does anyone know a good page-building program? Preferably one that is very user-friendly. I have a CD with Adobe PageMaker 7.0 on it. I loaded the program, took one look at it and my brain melted. I am just not up to learning how to use it right now, though I may have a bash at a later date. Right now I need something dumbed down.

If anyone has any suggestions please leave a comment or e-mail. I'd love to be able to effect the transfer before those bloodsuckers at Yahoo (HAAAAAAATE) take another nine bucks out of my account. However, I at least need to be able to put up a temporary index page saying the site is under construction.

I never thought I'd get less comments/traffic at my new place than I did at my old.

'Course if I actually wrote about something interesting that might help. Maybe inspiration will strike me today. Both kids will be at preschool till 3 -- woohoo!

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the planet who has to wrap gifts for Easter tomorrow.

There is something to be said for the people whose blogs I read who say their families and real-life friends know nothing about said blog.

I have always operated under the theory that I didn't have anything I wanted to write about that I didn't want people -- any people -- reading.

Lately, though, there have been a few things that I have really wanted to let loose on. We're talking insensible, ranting, Robert-Blake-talking-to-Barbara-Walters-type raving.

But don't have the freedom to do so because the contingent which aroused my ire also has knowledge of and free access to this blog.

It's not that I'm mad at specific people. There have just been some subjects near and dear to my heart that have come up and I have felt I needed to reign myself in a bit in discussing them. It would've been nice to have an outlet in which to say all the things I was thinking but kept to myself. But it definitely behooves me to keep my own counsel since I never know who might be reading.

Ah well, live and learn. I suppose I could always start another, non-publicized freak-out blog if I really feel the need to see stuff in print.

I am sitting here wondering what brought anyone who happens to be reading this to the blogosphere. Am I the only person who can't remember how I got started? I remember where I got started but I don't remember how I got there.

The first journal I ever read was Hashai. I was hooked from day one and started blog-surfing from there. So I can do a Six Degrees of Separation from Anna Beth sort of thing with every link on my blogroll, as each and every one was discovered through my original forays through her blogroll.

But as for what led me to that particular blog -- or any blog, for that matter? I simply cannot recall. I knew absolutely nothing about the world of personal blogging, so it's not that I was doing a search for ones to read. I must've stumbled upon it while looking for something entirely unrelated. I really wish I remembered! Alas, however, I am pathetic and old.

It's off to Norman I go.

JZ and I are dashing up to go to Toys R Us (before they possibly shut down). I still want a doll stroller for him for an Easter gift and the ones at Walmart are crummy. Also, I purchased an exceedingly adorable shirt for him at Babies R Us the other week and there was a shortall that matched it but they didn't have it in his size. The Norman Toys R Us has a small baby clothes section so I'm praying they have it because it's just too twee for words.

Also on the agenda: Target, the mall playground and Gymboree (duh.)

I have been trying to spend less time online this week, as it had really gotten out of control over the past month or so. So far my solution to keeping me off the computer has been to leave the house and go places, most of which cost me money that I shouldn't be spending. I'm not sure this is the best solution.

Nonetheless, off I go.

I had this book as a child and subsequently bought it for Madalyn. I always thought the illustrations were insanely creepy; now I know why. Alien manifestos just don't make good children's books!

My Little Golden Book about ZOGG

Wednesday, March 23

Yes, my dream has finally been realized. No, we didn't win the lottery. No, John-Zachary didn't potty-train himself overnight. No, we aren't moving to California. And that world peace thing isn't really coming along too well, either. But I got my own domain, and that's something, isn't it?

Yay, me. And yay, Zoot, for setting me up with Movable Type. I bow before your greatness.

Some of you may have come here when I initially sent out the e-mail letting you all know about the new location, and then returned to find, well....no new entries and a comments system that didn't work. This is because we had a slight technical difficulty; namely I done messed with some stuff that I shouldn't'a done messed with and I kilt it. Poor Zoot had to reinstall but I have learned my lesson and everything is on track again. Woohoo!
