For my own personal amusement I will now list my all-time favorite t.v. shows, past and present. These are in no particular order (except the first one, which is in the number one spot for a reason). I don't even necessarily watch these shows these days. My viewing of them comes and goes. I'll watch the reruns religiously for months or years and then quit and not see the show again for eons. Some of these aren't even being shown on any channels currently. But, given the opportunity, I always come back to them.
To make the list the show has to be an enduring favorite. There are plenty of shows that I currently watch and look forward to that aren't on this list. The clincher, for me, has to be whether I would watch episodes of this show more than a couple times. Would I seek it out, either in reruns or on DVD? And does it give me a warm, cozy feeling to settle down to watch? Here's what does:
1) Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Comedy Central era (but will watch Sci-Fi era in a pinch)
2) Whose Line is it Anyway? - British version, thank you very much. (Bite me, Drew Carey. Bleargh.)
3) Monty Python's Flying Circus
4) Cheers
5) Frasier
6) Will & Grace
7) Taxi
8) Full House (Yes, it sucks! That's why it's so awesome! It's awesomely sucky! It's like that old bit of smelly, stained rag that's all that's left of your security blanket that you still keep under your pillow. It brings you back to a more innocent time - back when you were young and dumb enough to think Full House was a really good show and the Olsen twins were so cute.)
9) Survivor
10) The Amazing Race
11) Big Brother (The trainwreck factor sucks me in once in a while.)
12) The Nanny (See footnote at #8)
13) What's My Line?
14) The Price is Right
15) To Tell the Truth -- 60's/70's version. (They are currently showing a 90's version on GSN and I hate it.)
16) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Robert ran this into the ground for me but it was a great show and I enjoyed watching it....the first ten times or so we saw each episode. Now I need a few more years off before I'm ready to start renting the DVDs and seeing it again.)
17) Animaniacs (First Animaniacs DVD collection coming out next month! SQUEEEEEEEE!!!)
18) Tiny Toon Adventures
19) Three's Company (Again, please refer to footnote back at #8 of this list)
20) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Best. Trek. Series. Ever. Bite me, geeks.)
21) The X-Files. (They lost me the last couple of seasons. But before that? Come on....Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose? Modern-Day Promethius? Genius. I still haven't gotten over Home, though. Brrrrr.)
22) The Bob Newhart Show
And there you have it. This list may be amended at a future date with no prior notification.

My list would be completely different! lol I love Who's Line is it Anyways, and Full House was pretty cool but the rest I've never really watched. I thought Three's Company was pretty funny. I absolutely hate Sci Fi, don't know why but any movies or shows like that I just can't watch! My list would have included ER, NipTuck, and Sopranos. 3 Shows I could watch for days on the couch nonstop without moving. lol

I'm with you for about half of this list! I agree that DSN was the best modern Trek series. Animaniacs rock. X-files was required viewing in my household for a long time. I'll still always watch Monty Python. But the old 70's and 80's stuff? Somehow that never sucked me in, then or now. I never did have a security blankie...
