Change of plans

Madalyn won't be going to Milwaukee with me, after all. Robert had a minor anuerysm when he found out not only how much I paid for the Milwaukee tickets but that I was also still planning to go to Dallas. After he recovered, though, he decided he didn't mind so much and also agreed that it wasn't fair for me to un-invite my friend, Dave, who had initially expressed an interest in going with me. So the original plan is back on: I take Madalyn to Dallas and Dave goes with me in Milwaukee.

A large part of Robert's recovery can be attributed to Dave, who totally ROCKS, by the way, and who is going to pay me back for the entire half of the purchase price even though he knows he doesn't have to and I didn't expect it. Also contributing to Dave's awesomeness is the fact that he is going to let me stay at his place and also chauffer me around town which will keep my expenses to a minimum. Basically I just need a plane ticket and food/t-shirt money. I need to find out if Judaism has anything equivalent to sainthood because I'm totally going to nominate Dave for it if it does.

(Also, in case anyone wondered: I do have other things to talk about besides my concert plans. It's just that, after a week of Vacation Bible School shepherding, I have exactly two functioning brain cells remaining. One is entirely focused on the concerts and the other is repeating, "Must. Sleep. Go. Lie. Down." on a continuous loop. And since there's not much to write about napping, I'm writing about the other thing. Hopefully a nice lie-in tomorrow will bring the higher functions back to normal capacity.)

Two dates and counting

Add another one to the schedule, boys and girls:

Milwaukee, October 23rd -- Section 225; Row E.

That's five rows from the stage, y'all -- only to the side rather than on the floor. This is actually the section I wanted, as, with floor seats, people stand up during the entire concert and if you're short you can't see, anyway. These seats are in the section that is the Bradley Center's equivalent of the section I sat in in two other cities in '02, only many, many rows closer!

The plan, for now, is to take Madalyn with me to this concert since I got two tickets for it. My intention was to take her to Dallas but Robert pointed out that a plane ticket to take her with me to Milwaukee would cost less than what I'd probably pay for a ticket for her for Dallas. So it looks like she will be with me at this show. Then, later, I will scout around for a single ticket for Dallas and just run down by myself for a quick overnighter. I got a great deal on a GOOD single seat for Denver so I imagine I can do the same for Big D. Makes more sense to do it that way, doesn't it, rather than try to buy a pair at $800-900? I mean, the Milwaukee tickets are already paid for whether she goes or not.

And, just because I'm totally in awe of how great our seats are, here is a visual. Our seats are in the section indicated by the humongous arrows, only we are pretty far forward of where the arrows are actually pointing -- fifth row of the section! Mad and I could practically spit on the stage from there....you know, if we were into that kind of thing.

Spending my anniversary with.....

11.

It's a beautiful number.

Let's all ponder it for a moment: 11.

Why, you might ask?

Because 11 is the number of the row I will be sitting in when I see Paul McCartney in Denver this fall!

(Insert loud, hysterical screaming here.)

I decided I needed to figure out which cities might be feasible for me to travel to for a concert. I do still plan to take Madalyn to see him in Dallas and I am going to try to go up to Milwaukee, too. But, hello, this is PAUL we are talking about! I saw him three times last tour and who knows? This could be my last shot!

Anyway, I figured Denver was do-able so I went searching on Ebay. I found a single ticket, 11th row, floor -- and it was only $45 above face value. As Robert said when I told him, "You almost can't pass that up!" So I didn't!

It shouldn't be too expensive to fly to Denver but, if worse comes to worst, I can drive. It's only about 11 hours. That would be kind of a drag but, with no kids in tow, I could definitely manage it.

So it's a date. Me and Paul, November 1st, in Denver. I will absolutely not be selling this ticket like I did my Dallas ones. It's a done deal, if I have to drag myself there by my lips!

One city down; two to go. I have a bid in on some Milwaukee tickets that end tomorrow so I may have that locked in before the week is out, too!
