Digital Mystery Tour

Just when you wonder if the Beatles can continue to appeal to new generations, something like this comes along.

Digital Mystery Tour: The Beatles' First Video Game

If you’ve always bragged that you could play the drum part in “Helter Skelter” better than Ringo Starr, you may soon get your chance to prove it in a video game based on the music of the Beatles. The game developer Harmonix and the publisher MTV Games, creators of the music game Rock Band, announced in a conference call on Thursday that they had entered into a partnership with the Beatles’ Apple Corps Ltd. to produce an interactive game that would offer players “an experiential journey” through the Fab Four’s music and history, according to Alex Rigopulos, chief executive of Harmonix. Paul McCartney and Mr. Starr, as well as Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono, have all approved the as-yet-untitled game. Giles Martin, son of the Beatles’ producer, George Martin, will serve as the project’s music producer.

If anything could make me by a video game console, this would be it.

Little smiles

The kids and I were in PetsMart yesterday and we stopped in to see the rescue cats. There was a nice, fluffy girl in the middle of the top row by the name of Maggie Mae. Naturally my thoughts turned to the Beatles but I know Rod Stewart also has a song by that name so I figured it wasn't necessarily Beatle-related. However, my suspicions were confirmed when I looked at the cat in the next cage, whose name turned out to be Maxwell Silver. :) There IS a Beatlefan at Second Chance rescue in Norman!

I love finding random little nods to the boys like that, when I'm least expecting it.

MIA

The boys, I still love them.

My mind has been consumed with the news that we're adding a new family member so I have not been as Beatle-centered as I usually am. These phases are normal for me. Things will even out after a while and I will have many more thoughts to blog about.

In the meantime I am trying to think up Beatle-related baby names!

Fixing a hole

Normally the Beatles are no more than a step or two away from my thoughts from morning till night. When they are a constant presence in my life I feel close to them, as though I've been spending time with them.

Sometimes, though, I will go through a period where, unintentionally, I drift away from them. I get very busy with other things and, somehow, they get pushed out of my mind. I don't think about them much at all. It doesn't happen often; I have to be extremely busy with a variety of things going on in my life all at once. The past few weeks have been one of those times and now I find myself missing my boys. I feel like I haven't seen them in ages and I'm realizing there's a hole there where they belong.

I brought my "Help!" DVD to California with me so tomorrow night I will sit down and watch it and spend some good, quality time with the lads. I need to reconnect with them.

Hiya

Hey!

I still love the Beatles. :)

Just thought I ought to post something. I'm still here; I've just been distracted by my vehicular drama (see Incorrigible Night Owl for details).

Stay tuned for new entries.

COOLEST. THING. EVER.

This is a video of a juggler. But not just your everyday, garden variety juggler. What is its relevance to this particular blog? Click and find out. I almost fell out of my chair.

I'm here!

I'm still here, still Beatlemaniacal. I've just been really, really busy. I'm currently less than 3 days away from leaving for California so my mind is elsewhere at the moment. I have lots of time to sit and think when I'm in CA, though, so I'm sure there will be entries to come during my trip!

Two things

1. Paul not winning a Grammy last night? MESSED. UP. But not surprising. I stand by previous comments I made that this indicates the decline of Western civilization.

2. I was looking at an article on Salon.com and there was a link in the sidebar, the text of which said, "Would the Beatles have happened without John Lennon?" In a word: NO. Or, to be more emphatic, HELL NO. They wouldn't have happened the way they happened if any of the four had been missing. I will go toe-to-toe with anyone on that issue.

Just added

I imported all my Beatle-y entries from my regular blog to here. Do take a moment and browse, if you're interested. They are all categorized and everything.

Grammy night

Okay, I loathe rap music and have absolutely no interest in it AT ALL.....but I have to say I would kiss Jay-Z if had a chance. He's wearing a John Lennon shirt on the Grammys right now. And Linkin Park? I will respect them forever for doing a duet of "Yesterday" with Paul. Anyone who shows respect for my boys automatically gets on my good list for life. (And "covering Beatles songs because you think you can do it better" is NOT covered under my definition of respect. The Linkin Park thing was okay because Paul was in on it.)

Completely unrelated to the Beatles, but since I'm on the subject of the Grammys: Isn't it about time for Madonna to start wearing clothes? I mean, I like her, I really do. Always have. And I'm not saying she looks bad. She looks great. But, cripes, Madonna, you are 46 years old. Put some damned pants on. We've been looking at your ass for 20 years now. It's not that much of a thrill any more.

Oh yeah, and Paul? Looks FAAAAAABULOUS!!!! If he ever wants to trade for a newer model, well....call me. We'll talk.

Hello, hello!

In the interest of not boring everyone absolutely to death I decided I needed a separate blog for all my Beatle-related musings. I honestly do not expect to get many readers nor feedback from this. Really this is for my own sanity. I don't have many Beatle pals and the friends I do have who are fans do like to talk about other things once in a while, whereas I could drone on about the lads for days. I really need a place where I can spill all my Beatle-related thoughts (you have NO idea how many Beatle-related thoughts I have in a given day). Talking to myself is better than talking to no one at all.

I am going to leave all my previous Beatle-related entries on the Incorrigible Night Owl but I will probably see if I can also copy them over here just for continuity's sake.

Peace and love, everyone.
